Today the three goslings in the incubator hatched, and it happened to be "stop turning eggs/get ready for lockdown" for the 17 Indian Runner duck eggs sharing the incubator. I did a quick clean up on the incubator and candled the eggs as I put them back in for their homestretch to hatching. Ten of the 17 have internally pipped! Heard peeping/clicking/tapping. Five seem "almost ready" -- large air cells, shadows moving.
The last two though are, well, weird. Both of them are not as dark as I would expect. Air cells are not large like the others. There's dark blotches, but also some yellow/almost clear spots where I'm not expecting to see any. One almost looked like the embryo is developing only in half the egg. That's not an exact picture, but somewhat close. All eggs had been turned properly by hand, etc. I studied it a while and am sure I see movement.
The other egg also has a large unveined/yellowish section, though the dark part occupies more of the egg. I didn't see any movement, and I didn't notice any sloshing, as with a bad goose egg we lost a couple weeks in (half the egg was clear, half filled and everything 'sloshed').
Any thoughts? I've tried searching to find photos or other descriptions that match eggs at this state. I originally started with 18 and one never seemed to fire off (was very clear); everything else had candled well during the month.
Thanks in advance.
