Hello to all you lovely people on the forum. I've finally joined as a member after years of gleaning information from the site.

Here's the issue. I collected a handful of cockoo marans eggs and set them in my (new to me) brinsea eco 20. I had some difficulty maintaing the temperature at 37.5C and around day 21 we lost electricity for 24 hours due to snow!
Of the 5 eggs set, all were fertile, 2 died early, one died late in shell, one pipped at the wrong end, underneath (so we couldn't see it) and consequently died too...

The last egg I tested yesterday with the wiggle in water test and it was still alive...

Should I keep incubating or intervene in some way, your thoughts are greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hello all.

Morning of day 27, still nothing. the egg wiggles slightly every now and again, but no noise of peeping and no sign of pipping anywhere... despite the electricity out i had expected this one to have hatched by now...

a sad story, sorry i do not have the experience to answer you but good luck

As a final update to this, I opened the egg on day 30. In it I found the chick fully formed, yolk absorbed and dead. It hadn't pipped... Humidity was high, I don't know what else I could have done...

same incy same problem! i couldnt maintain temp, i put 10 eggs in tepmp dropped a couple of times to 35c we helped 1 hatch day 24 , another hatched same day, then we helped 1 hatch day 25 left 7 in incy till yesterday day 28 opened them up, 1 were yolks, 1 died 1wk development, 3 died 2wks development, and 2 fully formed absorbed the yolk sack etc!
