Hi everyone, we are currently on day 27 and when I looked through the incubator this morning 1 egg seems to have a crack but looks like it’s started from the outside is this normal??

Good morning
Is the crack away from the air cell ?
Sometimes they are in the wrong position and hit outside the air cell
They can still hatch just fine and other times they need help
But if they do miss the air cell the time is different then a regular external pip in the air cell
You have to count it as both internal and external pip combined
So baby could take 48 hours or longer to hatch as it still needs the same amount of time to absorb

Picture is not great quality

Looks a bit like what mine has... It's okay to take the egg out and candle it or examine it. They really should change the name of 'lockdown', it makes it sound like if you do anything the chicks will die.

It just looks like it’s pipped from the outside not inside 🤯 I will keep a close eye as Iv had no change yet and that photo was taken at 8am this morning.

So I just candled the egg and was extremely careful and this is what it looks like.

Baby probably had already internal pip and is now on its external
This is normal and how you want it
I wouldn’t bring the egg out now as it’s external and should be left alone
You should have a baby in 24-36 hours
On 12-18 ish hours (each baby varies )you should see a second crack close to the first
When baby is ready to hatch he will zip
