Day 28 duck eggs haven’t internally pipped!!!

I wonder if the cooler incubation--hardiness correlation would translate to chickens. I've always seen suggestions that the opposite was true. I may have to experiment some day!

I thought you'd find this interesting (and it is an interesting study):
"An incubation temperature lower than usual during the last week of embryonic development may induce a lower thermoregulatory set-point and enhance the potential for tolerance to cold (Tzchentke and Nichelmann, 1999)."

This was a fascinating read. I see some experiments in my future--this would be a great 4-H project!

There's someone currently hatching duck eggs that was experimenting (after reading the Vitamin C research on chicken eggs) with spraying duck eggs with a Vitamin B solution seeing as so many ducklings end up deficient in niacin. Sadly she's only ended up with 2 viable eggs at this stage (one from her Vit B group and one from her control group), but it is an interesting theory.

You'll have to post your experiments and let us know how they go.

I need a rooster so I can do some experimenting.
