Hello people, it’s day 29 for my duck egg(not a moscovy), and there’s a bruising with a black dot in the center. It’s not near the air cell, and I’m a bit worried. I’ll insert a picture. If so is it like even a pip? No beak in the air cell yet. HELP!

Sorry to say anything, but I just read something and it said that the duckling could’ve hit a blood vessel while trying to pip, but piped away from the air cell. Should I intervene? It’s about to be day 30 tomorrow morning. I’m getting a tad bit worried…

Bruising usually means the duckling has been trying to pip for some time in the wrong location. Have had it happen a couple times and it's usually from malpositioning.

@SolarDuck Any advice here?

I would candle to see if you can work out whether the duckling is still alive. You should see some movement/shadowing at the base of the air cell if it is.
No movement, just a black shadow and the air cell. Should I worry? No stank or discoloration.

Does the shadow fill all of the space under the air cell? If a yellow, watery gap appears there between the shadow of the duckling and the air cell then that means the baby has died, but if it's still full and dark I'd leave it in and check it again tomorrow.

No yellow gap. Still full and dark! I really hope it’ll be ok. Becoming a bit stressed…

Still no beak in the little air hole. We are making a safety hole in the air sac. I’ve done every bit of research to make sure I do this right.
