How many days should I wait to candle the eggs. This is day 4. And what will I be looking for.
Temperature steady at 99.5, humidity at 41. Should it be higher?

I candle on day 10 to really see the embryo bouncing around..The Rest sounds good..

I let my humidity fall lower then that but my outside normal humidity is only less then 15 regularly. I had to fight to keep my hatching humidity over 45.

I wiuld wait to candle until 10+ days. I only candle 2 times the whole process. Day 10ish and lockdown. And only pull eggs that are empty at lockdown.

Humidity is variable. Aircell size is whats important. More humidity slows down aircell growth. Less humidity speeds it up.

How dark are your shells? Marans eggs youll see nothing. But for lighter shells you might see a small dark spot and veins on the yolk on day 4. If you dont, dont worry about it though its still really early. Heres an aircell chart.

Candle on days 7, 14, and 18 to see how/if you need to adjust your humidity.

You can candle by day 7 and see veins and a tiny embryo..I just wait till day ten because they really bounce around then..

Great information for me. Thank you.
I was just told that with duck eggs you should take them out and let them cool off and mist them everyday.
Is that right. I have not been doing that.

No..Not needed. I turn mine three times a day. That's all I do.

Thanks. The incubator they are in has a turner so I think I'm good.
