Good morning,
Today is day 30 for our magpie duck eggs in the incubator. We had our smallest egg pip on day 28, and it hatched yesterday on day 29. She/he seems to be doing well. It's hair is drying, starting to sit and keep it's head raised for small periods. We're over the moon in love already!
But...the 6 other eggs haven't seemed to do anything and now it's the start of day 30. The first hatchling made a bit of a ruckus bumping the other eggs around, but nothing too crazy. Some have been moved from this, but it doesn't look like any have been slammed too hard. We're considering candling the other eggs this afternoon, around the 24 hour mark from when our first magpie hatched.
We're looking for help on what positive signs to look for, and what might be red flags. I know day 30 is late, but I have read it's not out of the realm of possibility that they still can hatch. I'm taking a very optimistic outlook, but my husband is having a hard time with this.
FYI- the eggs have been on lockdown since day 25. Humidity around 75%, and temp around 99.5°. The kids have been very careful when around the incubator for the most part. But yesterday (day 29) my 5 year old dropped a flashlight on top of the incubator (the top didn't come off, just a loud noise). I'm hoping that didn't negatively affect the process of the other eggs.
Any help on this is GREATLY APPRECIATED
