Crowing
My chickens have NEVER gone broody!!I sure don’t! My EE is now on round 3 and has 1 chick. Broodies are stressful. I had 6 at one time in 3 different coops! And all but 2 of my silkies were broody at once. Nightmare.

I marked them the day I let her set. I knew it would be an issue as I have about 10-12 layers right now. I have to take 1-5 out of her nest every night. Every morning when she gets down to eat is when all of my other girls are heading in to lay and of course she’s setting on the most favorable spot in the hen house! Thanks for the advice though! Is she with other birds? If so mark your eggs with a pencil. My buff Orp went broody and I gave her 3 eggs. Next time I checked her she had a dozen! I had to candle them all and toss a bunch since there was development in some and most were clear.
I have 3 chicks running around now from filthy muddy/poopy eggs. I had a lot of rain and flooding. Don’t worry so much about contamination. I’ve not had a exploding one but I have had a few cracked ones from the hen.
