ok
I have a day old chick
when I found it yesterday the poor thing was stuck to the bottom of the brooder, its right leg was behind it.
It layed on its side and as I watched the poor thing the leg keeps going behind and to the side.

This is what Ive done for it, I put the splint thing around its legs as if it had stradle leg wont work the legs still goes back, I now have a L shape on its knee since it looks like it bends the wrong way, it still turns.
Ive tried giving it a little water acts like it cant drink and it wont take food. I know it can live a day more with out food.
Its got a lot of fight and want to be with the other chicks.
Help me Please, I dont want to give up on it and my husband and sons say try something else.

Make sure you are not using anything slippery in the brooder--I would put paper towel with shavings under him. I would set up a little area of the brooder just for him. Take a piece of hardware cloth and bend it into a semi-circle, set against the side of the brooder so he has his own little "cage". Put food and water in little cups where he can reach it. Start giving him poly-vi-sol drops, put a drop along side his beak and he should take it in. I used poly-vi-sol diluted by half, 2 drops per day. Sounds like you have the right idea in splinting his legs. I'll try and find more info on this for you.

Looks like City clucks found a good page for you!

City chicks,
I did that this morning and it didnt work, when I came home that leg as behind him again. Any more ideas?
maybe I can do it with the L shape splint on him will have to see when I get home if that will work.
Thank you for your help, any more ideas.

I dont know if its that,
I did find the info on the tendon and I think it could be that. Thats why I put the L brace on the little one.
So now hits keeping his foot in the front but the other foot when it trys to walk its like the left is stepping on the right foot now.
He did take the vit drop and a sip of water, but no food. Im thinking of giving it some yolk think that will help with the not eating.
I dont want the little thing to suffer so dont know how long I should try this. It does want to live thats for sure.
Any more ideas?

Oh maybe I'll try that right now I have a half washcloth around him to keep him from moving much.

I really want to thank eveyone for the help.

Does any one more more ideas?
He is starting to eat now he want to live.
I guess I'll try the tissue paper now, have the splint off his leg now the other leg seem week and his little foot wont go flat. So I put paper tape on the foot and hope this will work..
