I received my first chicks two weeks ago.
13 of the 14 are doing great. The one White Crested Blue Polish did not drink or eat but simply cried. I tried to give her cooked yolk but she was interested.
The hatchery mailed/shipped a replacement chick. I paid for the other two for the minimum 3 chick shipment.
The other two a gold laced Polish and the Cream Legbar are doing great. The replacement White Crested Blue Polish is doing the same thing. She is next to her sisters as they eat and drink but she just cries. Then goes and gets under the warming tray.
I dipped her beak in the water twice.
Tonight I gave her a electrolytes water and added sugar as suggested on MyPetChicken in a dropper.
When I reached out to the hatchery they said sometimes a chick can get stressed and take a day to get oriented. That makes sense. My concern is this looks to be the same behavior as the 1st one who died on the 3rd day (I guess when it used up the nutrients from its own egg . I want do what I can this time since I now recognize she is not eating / drinking. She would be all of 24 -36 hours at this point.
I welcome thoughts or suggestions. She appears warm enough and can move around (nothing odd in her movement) except she does not eat or drink but she will peck at other stuff.
Thank you,
KARL
