I have a chick that won't fully extend its right leg. It keeps it close to its body and the toes are not curled. It tries to stand but the leg stays in the folded position. Is there anyone that has seen this and has any idea what I could do to help?

This is how it holds itself up to the mhp. I picked it up and the right leg does not "unbend" or straighten like the left leg.

It walks on one leg dragging the right hock around.

I looked it up and I figured it was slipped tendon.

I extended the leg as much as I could and rolled the hock. Felt a thick cord moving... It was on the inner side of the hock. Did this twice. Felt it move but not sure if it popped in to place. Chick seems more active but not standing on the leg yet.

I just tried to move the tendon again and the hock joint is looking a little red.

Poor little thing. If you think it's a slipped tendon, then you will need to try to tape it. I have never had to deal with slipped tendon, but others here on BYC have said it can be hard to fix. The earlier you try to fix it the better.

This is on a peachick, but same method is used for all birds - I think this was a successful fix https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/peachick-with-slipped-tendon.1092979/

Poultry Podiatry is a wealth of info on leg issues - you may want to check them out

In the mean time, your little one may need help eating/drinking. She may also need to be separated from the other chicks - sometimes an injured chick will get trampled.
Keep us posted.
