Day old Chick with Foot Injury: possible broken Toe?

Do you have any vitamins or electrolytes in the water? You can add sugar, gatorade or baby vitamins like Poly-visol (without iron) in their water for added energy. If it is not drinking like it should, use an eye dropper to make sure that little one gets some.

Really sorry to keep posting... I feel like an anxious new mother even though this isn't my first batch of chicks... So I assumed he had pasty butt when I got him, but now I'm not so sure. He's chirping rather loudly right now (more like screaming). Twice I've soaked him and some stuff has come off, but I can't seem to get most of it... I don't know what it is. Is it just pasty butt? Why won't it wash off? Below is a picture.

I'm not quite sure what to do. It's not too hot... I'm going to go boil an egg for them and I think I'll mix some yogurt in. Is there anyway to clean him up? First the broken toe and now this? Poor little fella...

Best way is to soak her in warm, not too hot, water for a few minutes then wipe with a wet paper towel. Keep repeating as necessary until most/all of the poop is removed. Since she is weak and little she is probably sitting when pooping and therefore it's getting on her feathers. As she grows and strengthens it shouldn't be a problem.

I have a similar thing on a day old chick. Hi there. Her inside front toe bends in towards her, I just noticed this morning. Much like the pic MaggieRae posted. She was hatched yesterday. I made the boot just now using the one bandaid on top of another with the toes in proper position. I noticed since she hatched she seemed to have trouble lying down preferring to plop on top of an egg or kinda standing and dozing, it's like she can't lie down really. Maybe related to the toe? She's hobling around in the little bandaid flipper boot okay. I hope it doesn't cause any problems. When would I not boot her anymore? When I change the boot and her toe is staying in the proper position? She still doesn't seem to want to lie down.

Any help or tips would be much appreciated.
