Day old chick with gimpy leg

Received some mutt eggs from neighbor. Of the one of nine already hatched one chick seems like it's favoring its left leg. Moves fast but walks like ET from the movie... all squaty.

Tucks right leg to belly

Any ideas what I should do?

Sorry about your chick. He may have injured it amongst the other chicks or it may be genetic. Day old chicks can have weak legs as well and do strengthen over time. You might want to post this in our Raising Chicks forums or even our Emergency section for more ideas on how to treat this...

I am so sorry about Gimpy. I know how hard it is to see them suffer and then have to put them down. I hope your heavy heart can heal soon.
