Is this an issue with absorbing the yolk? Chick was only 12hours old in this picture... seems bright enough and has had a drink of water. It's feathers seem sticky too, unlike all the others that have a lovely cover of fluff. The incubator seemed very stable, and this is the only one with an issue out of 5 chicks in all. Anything I can do for it?

I had a barred cochin bantam with this and in a few days he went mostly bald. I took him to the vet to make sure I didn't need to cull that whole brood and she said it was parasites.

I treated them with a special dewormer from my vet and now he's just fine

If I could I would have a vet run a fecal sample.

It may well be the yolk. I would just take a " wait and watch " approach . I had a silkie hatch with the swelling to one side. It feathered in and doesn't seem to have any ill effects from it.
