Hello, I have raised 6 chickens before when they were a month old a year ago. Today, I got two baby silkies that are a day old. Their names are Gizmo and Frodo. Frodo is very content and quiet. There have been no problems with her. Gizmo however will not stop the distress chirps and she keeps trying to jump out of her enclosure. When ever I show myself she stops and calms down for about 10 minutes and the continues to try to break out of the enclosure. Does anyone know how to fix this? Thanks

There are some great articles in the Learning Center on raising chicks. Basically to keep them happy, they need warmth (between 80F and 95F for day-week old chicks), fresh water and chick starter crumbs available at all times. Some chicks also need to feel secure and safe more than others. For these I'd hang a feather duster in the brooder, not too close to the heat source, so they can crawl under it when they need a "mom".
