Day Old Chicks!

These are my sweet adorable chicks that we hatched out of eggs collected from our chickens. The rooster is a barred rock and the eggs were collected from my hens that are all different. I know 2 chicks hatched from my splash ameracauna and 1 from my easter egger. The other 3 chicks could be from my barred rocknhen or my silver or gold laced wyandottes. But my cousins daughter asked for a "chick photoshoot", and since she's been stuck inside distance learning I obliged. Here are some of the photos!

I have no idea! I was assuming yes, since BR's can be sexed my their head dots, but upon reading more chicken genetics I think not since not all the hens would carry that gene. But it just became more confusing the more I read. I then tried feather sexing but apparently the father has to be slow feathering for that to work but BR's are fast feathering.

It's a mystery, I guess only time will tell if a few roos end up in freezer camp!
