For those of you who have put your day-olds in with slightly older chicks (2 weeks), do you bother with paper towels? Or do you figure the older chicks will show the new ones what the food is?

I have had luck just putting one paper toel down in the middle of the brooder and spinkling food on it, tapping the food until the chicks start to eat it, and then feed them this way for about 2 days. The older chicks will help the little ones know to peck at the food on the ground, and the paper towel will make it easier for the little chicks to find the food, rather than hiding it in the litter. After a day or two you can just have the food in the feeder. Hope that helps.

Forgot to clarify that the one paper towel is just laid on top of the litter.
