We have had a rough spring with predators killing our birds while freeranging. We have seen foxes during the day as well as a classic looking raccoon attack (day) and. I think we might have a new critter attacking.
Two days ago we found a young hen dead with a few scattered feathers a 100 feet away. No obvious injury other than a broken neck. I blamed the cockerals, while today the cockerals were attacked. The injuries of the 2 we found look like the backs of their necks were chewed on. There are 3 more birds missing completely. It has only been a couple hours, so there could be birds hiding, but the feather piles say differently. Is there anyway to tell the difference between a mink attack or a fisher? Or does this sound like something else?

I doubt it, I believe they are very similar.

Could be any one of the 3-4 preds you have mentioned...or maybe others.

Time to lock 'em up.
