Days to hatching??? How to calculate?

When do start counting the days til hatching, from the day it was laid or when you actually put it in the incubator? Sorry another newbie question.

Nothing develops with fertile eggs til you actually start the incubation process as rebelcowboy says. If you set the eggs under a broody or in an incubator in late afternoon or evenings the next day is considered day 1. If you set eggs in the mornings that day is considered day 1.
