hello. I'm curious, how many of you deal with animal threats during the day time, besides dogs? Also, I live i south east michigan and I'm wondering what pests people have to mostly deal with around this general area? Thank you

I live in Arkansas, but I would think that the daytime predators would be similar in most parts of the country. Our main daytime predators are hawks and eagles followed by foxes, and feral dogs and the occasional feral cat. the feral dogs and cats are a result of people dropping their unwanted pets in the country, to fend for themselves.

While we do have guard dogs, they are by necessity separated from the chickens. However this does not stop them from sounding off anytime they perceive there is a threat. So far we have only had one instance of a predator coming up and that was a dog pack, our guard dogs did their barking and the pack did some barking then the pack headed off about the same time I arrived, gun in hand.

Daytime threats for me include Red Fox, rarely Gray Fox, Coyotes, Bobcats, Red-tailed Hawks, and Coopers Hawks with latter going only after smaller birds. My dogs shut all down except Coopers which roosters and even hens taking up slake on those buggers.

Thanks for the responses
