Daytime Foxes (Scotland)

Thanks a lot for the advice all, I really appreciate it. Unfortunately, in the meantime, it (assuming it's the same fox) has grabbed another one, so I've fenced in my chickens and ducks (with a paddling pool) into a corner of the garden for now.

I've ordered a couple of box traps to put at either extreme of the garden in the undergrowth. If I can't bring myself to kill the fox there are pine timber woods about 15 miles along the road, so I'll relocate it there.

Don't put your problem off on somebody else, many places it is illegal (rightfully so).

Despite this likely be illegal in your area. Acknowledge -
Foxes have been recorded traveling more than 30 miles to return to their capture site.
In the case the fox stays at the dropoff site, we now know many of these animals relocated die due to the stress of the translocation, disease, competition from other animals in the area, etc. You can read more here:

I either use a 22 pellet gun, or a 22. LR rifle on foxes/raccoon.
Make an X going between each ear, and eye and that's where you shoot.
This would be a much more painless death than starvation in a new environment.
