Abandoned dogs, we have more than our share out here. Makes it very challenging to have chickens and ducks free range. Any idea if an electric fence to keep the dogs out would be harmful to the chickens and ducks? If they touch it will it kill them?

I don't think an electric fence will kill a chicken or duck if the touch it. I soon will have an electric fence for added protection for my flocks.

I keep my flock behind an electric netting fence. It has protected them from the neighbors German Shepherd dogs as well as coyotes and the local black bear. The chickens can get shocked on the fence if their combs touch it. It usually only takes one hit for them to learn to stay away from the fence.

Electric fences do shock them, however they learn quick to avoid it. And it does help deter predators. Good luck and welcome aboard!
