Hi again,
My other chicks are about 10 weeks old they are on their medicated starter still. I add DE and a bit of cayenne pepper in the crumbles.

We got our new day old chicks on Friday and I am giving them this mix. Is this ok? If it isn't ok they'll have to do with it till I can get to the feed store Monday.. I know I should of thought of this before the arrived

I would not add either to such young chicks feed.
. There is absolutely no information to substantiate nor even give credance or supposition that cayenne (nor DE when ingested internally>this was specifically researched in a field study by the ARS and found it made no difference whatsoever) can in any way help against worms (I have thoroughly researched the herbal sites for any suggestion of such for the cayenne/capsaicin)... There HAS been research showing cayenne (capsaicin) can be helpful to aid to stimulate the immune system in chickens to help in warding off disease (specific research was on salmonellosis).

Thanks, hopefully they will be ok with it till tomorrow morning when the feed store opens. They do seem to be eating good so far and only a little poo on three butts which I have washed off of course. I don't think it was pasty butt...maybe the start of it?

Why put DE in the feed? Someone, please reply; it seems like it would be an irritant.

My adult chickens love dried crushed peppers & I hope that takes care of internal parasites, so good so far.
