I just read a webpage from someone selling DE... it was posted by someone here, but I don't remember who.

Anyway, it said that it's safe to use but you don't want to inhale it.

Well, I've been using DE since I got my chicks and it's so fine that there's no way you or the chickens CAN'T inhale it. They roll around in it and make a lot of dust, so I know they inhale quite a bit. And I have read how chickens are prone to respiratory problems anyway.

But more importantly, what about us humans? Will this hurt us?

Why say you guys?

If i had to be around it alot, since I'm asthmatic, I'd wear a mask...
You don't have to put alot out for the little peepers, just a tiny bit goes a long way.

You should never get dust in your lungs, of any kind, if you can avoid it. Nature has provided for chickens dust bathing habits. I wouldnt put so much DE in their beddings that when they walk around and scratch that they can create dust clouds, things that they do that wouldnt normally raise dust.
