Does anyone here use DE on yourself and your family? I was breading some chicken tonight (not my own chicken) and I started to think "I wonder if I can add some DE in the breading?" I'm thinking it would be good for kids with head lice, rub some on their head. Does it do anything for people?

Well if it eliminates parisites in chickens, i would assume that it would do the same for people. I have read that it has 14 trace minerals in it. I havent tried it myself. Maybe someone more qualified will answer soon.

I know of a forum where folks do "cleanses" and some actually use DE every day, or just when they do the cleanse, depends on the person. It is said to be a great dewormer and the organic websites and forums I have read mention with the picking practices we have for our produce, that is not a bad idea to use it.

It doesnt mix very well tho, you really have to throw a bit in somethin where you wont taste it. My birds seem to hate the stuff but I insist and they seem healthy! lol

I only put it in a stew one time my hubby made, where he made curry. Not quite brave enuff to see how it tastes on its own.

To answer you, if I beat around the bush, yea its good for you, if you put on someones head tho, I would be super careful of breathing the dust and of the eyes, cuz its powdered shells and would be extremely irritating so might not be the best solution for the head. It would be great tho for under couch cushions and etc, or cracks and crannies of the house, bed, etc.

I know of several people who swear by taking a tablespoon of DE every evening with a tall glass of water. Haven't used it on myself yet though.

Well.....I HOPE it healthy for us. I just got my FIRST bad today. Had to order it....so I got 50 pounds. WOW! Thats alot. Well....I took it out, and dusted the spots where they dust bath.....mixed some in thier feed...and of course, with the wind blowing...I ate about as much as they did. Its salty..and dry. LOL

I started taking it about 3 weeks ago. I started with a 1/4 tsp because it was..."cleaning me out"
Now I can take about a tsp a day. I usually mix it into some of the Bolthouse Farms smoothie mix you can get at Walmart in the Produce section (Organic area). I have also added it to juice. No big deal. But, I have noticed I havent had heartburn since I started taking it. I am hoping it will help solve my bathroom issues since having my gallbladder removed a few years ago. People who have had their gallbladder removed will probably understand what I mean by "issues."

I would like to hear from others who have taken it for themselves.
I sold a bag to each of my co-workers who a few of them suffer from Endomitriosis and Arthritis. I havent asked how it has been working though. I think that mostly they forget to take it.

I've just started taking DE daily...I mix a teaspoonful into 8 ounces of yogurt (using store-bought). I just add it and stir it into the yogurt real good and can't even tell its in there. I drink water along with it, usually in the evening, a few hours before going to bed. I've been having better bowel movements than I can remember ever having.

I've been feeding it to our dog for a month now and have noticed a big difference in her energy level, in the past week and a half.

You guys have just talked me into using it too. I've been scared to try it but since I've read how it is improving heartburn, bowel troubles I'm ready to give it a go. I'll let you know how it works out. I know it worked miracles on my dogs mainge. So we shall see!

if you want something good to prevent head lice i know of a wonderful trick, my oldest is 12 and has never had head lice. this is what i do:

add 6 drops of tea tree oil to a bottle of new shampoo. any type of shampoo. if you already have a bottle open just add a little less. ex: i had half a bottle when i was told about it and i added about 3-4 drops and shake it up good after you first put the drops in there.

my sister told me about it and her daughters never had head lice either.

you can be tea tree oil at any drug store or GNC. it last a long time and is good to have any ways for cuts, scrapes, poison ivy, poison sumac. it has a tone of uses. it is made from a tree found in australia.

sorry i know you were asking about DE but i thought since you were talking about the head lice. this would be a way to prevent that problem before it starts!
