DE question?

Am curious to know if anyone else experienced what Allen Wranch did. Has anyone experienced this without DE use?

I haven't found it to be that helpful with flies-
I put in in the coop with the shavings-and have been adding to the feed but am not sure I will continue after Carla's info.

I've mixed DE in with the layer pellets so the chooks get some whenever they eat. I've noticed that flies generally don't seem interested in the DE poops but it has absolutely no effect on the cecal poops and the flies LOVE those. Because my chooks free range all day the whole yard is swarming with the nasty things. Please help
