So I’ve been meaning to do this for a while now. His spurs are cruelly long so I removed them tonight. Very easy, twist with wrench method...
But on closer inspection one spur was small than the other, and looks to have been penetrated at some point and infected.
Wondering what I should do now. Leave it? Trim and cauterize?

Can you show us a picture of the top of his feet/legs too?

I would leave the spur tip alone for the time being. If it was damaged at some point, then the tip may fall off. Did you notice a foul odor when you removed the outer spur?
