OK, I have HAD IT with my teen rooster bloodying my hens.
He has taken the idea of Tough Love a step too far!

I know I've read about twisting the spurs off, but want to make sure I don't hurt him.
Would a set of vise-grip pliers work?
I have a small boltcutter that I could use, but would I then need to file the cut ends smooth?

You will LOVE the hot baked potato method. I am totally serious. Bake a few potatoes Wrap your rooster so that he can't move and cover his face so he won't wiggle.

Take those potatoes out of the oven and while they're good and hot, you stick a spur into each potato, right up to where it meets the leg. Leave it there for for a while, and then magically, when you take the potato off, the spur will just come right out, no blood, no nothing.
