I have read that DE is good for bug control. I cant find info on it. What type do you use and it eco friendly. We have two creeks in our yard and we are not used chemicals so.... thanks for the info
tink:)

I got mine from Freshwater Organics. I was just thinking about this because I'm not sure how to use this stuff to the maximum benefit. Do I just dust in the chicken run, but how often? And where else? Would you know? Or anyone?

Hi, Yes, you need the food grade DE. There is also a non-food grade that is only for use in swimmingpool filters. Do not use that for your chickens.

It is recommended to dust your coop and run, also add a bit to your hens food. I sprinkle it on like a light dusting of powdered sugar. It will keep internal parasites at bay, and keep flies and other yucky bugs away. For flies, give it a week or two to kick in-you will see improvement.

We feed DE daily and I don't measure it. I just put a scoopful into the feeder every morning with the feed. You can't overdose it, so need to worry.

I had a hard time finding the food grade DE
in my area, everywhere I looked only had the
type used for swimming pools.
I did find it at Amazon.com for a reasonable amount of $.
I ordered it on the 16th, they shipped on the 18th & I
received it on the 20th of the month.

It was listed as :
Diatomaceous Earth, 5 lb - $10.50
sold by and shipped from GreenSense, in Texas
