Yes. That general area has been the one most affected here from the beginning. Perhaps having FWA areas and mass production turkey farms in close proximity isn't a good idea? We have a wildlife wetland refuge in our county, yet haven't had any reported HPAI cases. This outbreak of HPAI just refuses to end…
Mine are out for about 5 hours a day now. We are about to get very cold, so those babies need to toughen up quick!Yes. That general area has been the one most affected here from the beginning. Still doing supervised free ranging. Apparently mine are spoiled compared to some, bc 30°/18°wc, they last about an hour before they head back in on their own.
I was sitting out w/them the other day when we noticed 2 hawks circling us. Suddenly I had 10 guineas at my feet, all looking up silently. One hawk side-bombed the other and took chase, the guineas made a run for the coop.
Phew, yep, us, too, projected 4 days w/down to -30° wc. Just went out and did a last walk through, plugging up little nail holes I noticed in roof that I didn't notice before. Nor have I noticed dripping before, but have lately. I guess bc of change of material in drop boards, clumps up now.Mine are out for about 5 hours a day now. I saw your location on your profile when you posted this and I almost panicked
I always keep an eye out to see if it gets closer. Dubois,Greene,Johnson,Martin, Elkhart, Allen Counties only cases in 2022. Johnson,Allen, and Elkhart the only counties where it was found on non-commercial farms. The rest were Commercial turkey or duck farms. There was one wild duck in Louisville area early on.I saw your location on your profile when you posted this and I almost panicked

I know you guys don't use heat, but I do have the radiant heat plate up for them. Haven't used it, but don't want to be digging it out and installing it in neg temps, either.
I think it's the wind they don't like. They can't fluff their feathers up very well to stay warm when the wind is blowing, and I see them switching feet to warm one up . I'm layered up w/a power lineman's sweat jacket on top, so I'm good.![]()
Currently -15°F here with a 6 mph wind. It dropped from 32°F this morning to zero in one hour. Snowing now. Guineas are staying inside today.Best of luck to all of us with this polar weather system!!!!![]()
That’s so cold!!! Serious drop for us, 20 degrees in a few hours close to dawn tomorrow. It will be rough on the birds to fall that far that fast, but I’m not planning to lock them in.Currently -15°F here with a 6 mph wind. It dropped from 32°F this morning to zero in one hour.
