I had the best hatch rate with this batch so far. 11 out of 12 hatched perfectly fine… this guy was the 3rd to pip through the egg and later on in the day I realized there was no movement at all, no chirping and didn’t react to chicks hitting his beak or the egg. Surly enough he was dead when I got the egg out. I figured maybe shrink wrapped?

When I opened it, it was like the most perfect little chick and the membrane was still wet!? Super sad for this guy but I’m curious if anyone else has had this happen?? It’s like he piped and then said never mind. Humidity and temp is always perfect. I’ve hatched so many chicks… Never had this issue before. Could there have been some underlying illness? I just don’t understand.

Yes on my last hatch this month. I know not what causes this.
