Dead chick on day 17?

It is day 17 of my Broody's hatch. She had 11...one didn't do anything so we were down to 10 that seemed to me coming along great. Today I saw there were only 9 eggs in nest when she was out pooping. I found a very small dead chick with no shell left next to the nest. Anyone have something like this happen? Could it have hatched early and died or maybe she kicked it out because it was dead and she just ate the shell? Not sure if I should be worried about the rest.

I don't think it hatched on its own at 17 days. The shell likely broke.

That is what I figured. It was tiny and looked way too small and weak.
