that’s my gut feeling @DobieLover, the rest of them are so energetic and thriving (so far). I just don’t know why she was standing like that but maybe we’ll never know. all seemed fine all day yesterday too.
Yes, it's okay to mix them. Most chickens don't care about what breeds they like and dislike. Places like TSC make you buy a minimum of either 3 or 5. How many do you have left?
There are laws in some states where you have to buy a minimum number of chicks from a store. Here in Ohio, it's six minimum. If you are looking to replace just the one, I wouldn't bother
You can add some from TSC but you want to stay in similar age range. I haven't had major losses yet from ordered chicks, and they would be varieties not available to me localy.
It's not the store that has the rule, it's the law in some states. It was designed to deter the people that want to buy just one cute little chick for Easter

thank you this makes me feel better.So sorry for the loss of your chick. She was likely weaker from hatch, shipping stress and simply not able to recover like the others. Hopefully you have no more losses.
