Dead chick

It’s really cute:celebrate:bun
Play a video of chicks chirping
Just thought I'd let you know I just tried that with a YouTube video and my broody came off the nest and just about attacked me.

Found another dead one just now. Hatched, but stuck to shell, etc. Flat and bloody. Must have died before making it all the way out, then mom pecked it I guess. I'm devastated.

There are 9 eggs left. I went out to check just now and she was off the nest and that's how I found the one I just described.

I still have hope that some will hatch but she definitely doesn't want to hear chirping coming from me! Lol

Oh I am so sorry. This chick was dead and flat, too? You may need to keep a close eye on the rest! Do you have a way to make a quick Hatcher?

I don't know what a quick Hatcher is. At this point I am feeling like I need to let nature do what nature does. I will definitely keep a close eye on things.

I got the eggs from a guy who sells fertilized eggs. He said he kept them at 65° until sold. I don't know if they were all laid on the same day but they were all set under my hen on August 1. From what I have read, they don't start actually growing until they reach a certain temp under the hen. I hope this is not what is called a "staggered" hatch". I had never heard that term until yesterday in this thread.
