looking for info!

found our girl Gwendolyn dead by the feeder today inside of the coop. no sign of struggle/no open wounds. I don’t know if she was egg bound or what.

I’ve attached pictures in case someone sees something obvious that I’m totally missing — but if she didn’t die from being egg bound then I don’t know what else it may have been & worry it is contagious.

basically just hoping someone can let me know what I should be checking my other girls for.

we have 13 more that are her age (1 year & 3 months old) & we just introduced 3 baby chicks into the coop but have had them in an entirely separate enclosure so I don’t think they’ve shared germs.

appreciate any info you might have to offer🐔

Oh no! I’m so sorry for your loss. Where are you located? I know lots of the US has been having some extreme weather, including where I am. (Temps getting to 111)

Sorry about Gwendolyn.

Unfortunately without further investigation it would be very hard to know what happened and it would just be guesses.

If you still have the body, you can refrigerate it, then send it to your State Lab.

Another option is to perform an informal necropsy yourself. Sometimes just by taking a good look inside will reveal something obvious.
