dead chickens scattered around yard

You are going to have to free range under supervision only for quite awhile. I bet the dog/s will be back very soon. See if you can find any tracks or hair to get an idea of size, etc. Maybe it was a fluke or maybe a new dog in town. I would build a secure run.

I agree, it's dogs killing for sport!!
My chickens used to free range all the time then go to coop every evening, life was grand for about 3 years..........UNTIL the neighbors got 2 young dogs, their older dogs had been no problem. Then my area started having coyote problems too.

At least coyotes only kill what they can carry off and eat.

Now my flock stays in the coop/yard for protection (both have plenty of room). I let them out to free range in the afternoons, when I am there to watch over them and run interference.

So sorry you've had this experience.
Now as for as how long for lockdown..........who knows?!?! You'll have to watch your flock closely and assess the situation. As jjthink said they will be back!!
