I had 3 pip last night.Check temp (70%) and temp (normal) at 1am then went to bed. Wake up at 7 and they are dead. I have 2 more pips that pipped since I last looked and they don't seem to be dead. I don't understand.....

The other two that have pipped are still alive. One only has a crack in the shell and the other has a hole in the shell with a beak and some wet fuzz that I can see. I'm not sure why the other two died. Also, last night I noticed on the ones that had pipped that the membrane where the bits of shell had fallen off looked bloody around the pip hole. Yesterday, they were 2 days early. I guess I should just leave it? The one with only a tiny crack in the shell is peeping. Does that mean distress because the other one that is dead this AM was doing it last night and now it's dead? Darn, I'm so disappointed.

So Sorry to hear about your troubles .

I'm hatching right now too , and had a similar problem , everything appeared fine , but two died in the shell never even making it out , and one made it all of the way out during the night , but I found it gone this morning.

sometimes when they die in the shell it has something to do with the humidity during the incubation, I keep my humidity about 45% during the first 18 days, then bump to about 80%. also it could be that the chick wasn't strong enough, they have to be strong enough to hatch, to be survivors. I think we all have had at one time or another chicks die in the shell.some people help them out if its that the egg is tough, or the membrane is sticking to them like shrink wrap, a good sign that the humidity isn't high enough.
