Got a few chicks about two months ago, they looked strong and healthy.
Right after I got them, all my other grown chickens got sick - but these chicks were fine.
They were sectioned off in their own area, and seems like they were growing well.
A week ago I saw one marans walking funny, and I noticed her leg was broken by the heel. I splinted it as best as I could, but she kept chewing out the top part of the splint. She was eating and drinking normally, and I checked in on her every day multiple times.
This morning I gave them some food and went back inside and about an hour later came to see if they needed water, and kind one of my marans dead under the water stand.
No sneezing. Wheezing. Lethargy. Bloody poop. Bullying. Bleeding anywhere. Missing feathers. Nothing.
So one broken leg. One dead. What’s going on?

Did your older flock recover from their illness? What were their symptoms?
Were the chicks vaccinated for Marek's disease?
Yes they did. Only two legbars got sick. Sneezing, runny nose from one, lasted a day or so. And a second one - older one, that was wheezing terribly. It lasted two days - gave her some meds. Other than her not laying for quite some time - she laid two eggs after she got better and that was it since - she’s perfectly fine.
The chicks were all vaxxed before I got them - I bought them that way.
My flock was not.

How old are the chicks now?

What are they eating, how are they housed and what else could they have access to if you let them out to range? Pictures might be helpful.

When you say you haven't noticed any bullying between them, how much time do you typically spend around them?

And how is the one with the broken leg doing now?

The chicks are between 4-6 months old. This is a guesstimate.
They eat a mix I have for all of my flock and eat nicely. Also get scraps from the house.
I do not let them out unless they’re carried inside the house to hang out with us.
I spend a nice amount of time with them, and my kids do too. They all dust bathe together, eat nicely, and roost together. We got them together, and they’ve been living together since.
They are in the coop within the coop :) posted some pictures.
Broken leg is still broken. She’s eating and drinking. Dustbathing. Chilling. Not dead yet 🤷🏽‍♀️
