Dead Hen

I found an Easter Egger hen dead in her laying box. Does anyone have any ideas as to what could have happened? None of the chickens appear sick, and there was no trauma.

She could have been egg bound, or suffered heart problems. Doing a necropsy yourself, or having her sent to the state vet for one may help you find a cause of death. Did you notice any diarrhea, any crop impacition, or anything abnormal around her vent? We all we occasionally have an unexplained death if we have a flock of chickens, and sometimes the symptoms are there, but we don't always notice them. Sorry for your loss. Thank you. She did not have diarrhea but her vent looked enlarged.
