Hi, today when I went into the coop I found one of my white wyandottes dead on the floor inside. There was not blood or signs of a predator. Any ideas what could have happened? All the other birds are fine. We have 5 pullets around 15 weeks old, 1 roo and 4 hens, all about 3 years old.

I'm very perplexed & hoping no more birds die. My old girls are not laying well and the pullets have not started so LOTS of work & I'm still buying eggs at the grocery:(

Thanks for any thoughts

Sometimes chickens get sick and die. My father in law lost a hen a few weeks back on a very hot day. The others were fine no predators involved. Just lay down in the sand in front of the fan and died. It would be smart I think to have the entire flock medicated. Just to be on the safe side.

Sometimes, animals simply die. I had a hen just up and die the other day. No sign of any problem.

As far as medication is concerned, it helps to know what you are treating in giving any particular medication.
