So we just found our Bantam Roo dead under a tree.. It is where they all hang out during the day in the heat.. Rigamortous had kicked in so he had been dead for a while. He was only 4 months old and fiesty yesterday.. No damage could be seen just looked like he layed down there and died...
We live on a small farm and they hang out in same area as the horses, cats, and goats.. They are 100% free range and have full access in and out.. Have had plenty of water and food... Should we not worry about it until something happens to another chicken or?? Is it something that just happens?? We are new to the chicken thing...

Sometimes chickens just die. If he has not been exhibiting symptoms and if all others in the flock appear fine, I would chalk it up to a congenital weakness that finally caught up to him. If others start to appear ill or die, you will have to pursue this further. Good luck.

our other Bantam was found at about 8 weeks just dead too, and it was completely confined to the coop and fenced area... Hopefully it was just a bad batch of bantams...
