I made a bad mistake when I put the waterer in the bin with the baby chicks. I put it on a crested chick about a weak old . I found it at 3:30 in the morning by noon the next day he was fine but now 2 weaks later he has a dying toe on his right foot . the left has a weird bump on top of his foot it is small but noticeable looks and feels like fluid. should i pop it ?what about the dead toe should i leave it ? Welcome.

Is the chick otherwise healthy, getting around with no limping (etc.), not being picked at by the other chicks? No bone protruding? If so, you might apply betadine (just use a q-tip) to any raw areas. If the toe tip is dangling it can be nipped off, otherwise leave it be for the time being. The `blister' bleb on the left foot could probably be lanced and cleaned with betadine and apply PLAIN neosporin. However, if it is not causing difficulty and is not being picked at you might just keep an eye on it and see if it starts to resolve on its own or gets bigger (if you can post a shot it sure would help in providing more exact advice).

Again, welcome and good luck!
