Deaf Chicken!

I think we have a deaf Polish hen, she is so sweet, she sleeps a lot but she eats and drinks really well. The head of our picking order hen, always lets her eat treats and pecks all the other away from the treats but not her. I thought she was sick because she acted like she was tired but now I realize she is deaf. I can hold her and pet her, very sweet girl! So we will see.

Great thread! I, too, believe one of me EEggers is deaf. I started noticing that she was always the last to come when others would start running toward me when I had treats - even if I didn't! Then, I watched as my one Barred Rock would pick on her in a way, not bad, just like she had to remind her who was boss, move over, or something. But the Barred Rock has two other chickens with her, another EEgger, and one Astrolorp. Four total. Never picks on anyone else. Anyway, this EEgger is usually by herself. Seems healthy enough. Two times in one week, about one month ago, she was on top of the grill cover (covering my grill!) when I went out to put them to bed. She was just sitting there. She allowed me to pick her up and take her the coop. I just basically filed that. Then, not long after, it was getting dark and I was at my computer which faces the sliding back doors. I heard a knocking/clikcing sound three distinct times. I looked and there she was. I went out and, again, picked her up and took her to her coop. She was also about 3 months behind on laying her first egg. But she also layed a lavender egg! Nonetheless, tonight, I went up to her as she was in my herb garden with her head in the herbs next to the house. I clapped my hands many times and she never even looked back. What are others' thoughts? Thank you. This is my first time raising chickens and they are now 9 months old.
