Dealing with a 1 year old rooster

Without me or my dogs my chickens would last a week.I buy the food and wait on them hand and foot and my dog chases predators off.Roosters can't protect hens from predators but they can take the fall for them. I have yet to see a rooster with the strength or agility of a predator like a fox or coyote .They don't have teeth or claws to defend themselves or the hens.Aggressive roosters are a legal liability just like biting dogs.

... The more you keep him separated the worse he will become.
What kind of time frame would you mean here? I'm also in a tough spot with my rooster. I also have him separated from my remaining 5 hens because of over breeding injuries. I thought it was because I needed to get more hens. There were times when the hens protested his advances and he jumps them anyway and sometimes he leaves them be. I just thought that's what roosters did. However the injuries to 3 hens were getting bad regardless of the saddles. So he's been living in a separate pen for about 4 weeks now but I leave him out all day where he hangs out around the run and mingles through the fence. I'm just about to add 3 hens and I was originally going to seek advice about... I've never integrated new chickens before. And then ideally my rooster can rejoin when everyone's feathers are back... Ideally... Unless I'm royally messing this poor guy up...

Separating him is the right move here and 5 is probably too few. How old is everyone?

They're all the same age at 15 months. I started with 8 hens and 2 roosters. Sorta nervous about introducing 3 adults to the mix. I would have added my own chicks next year but then life has a funny way of it sometimes... The last hen that died was just a couple weeks ago. My flock dynamics feel all over the place currently. The one thing my roo does well with them is mitigating the petty hen disputes. My main issue is that I can separate the new hens in the run easily but with my roo in the extra enclosure I don't know exactly where to coop the newbies yet.
Should I integrate all the hens and then add my rooster back when everyone has their feathers back or should he be back with the flock same time as the new girls are being fully integrated?

I would integrate the new girls first, I assume you still don't have the second roo? If you do, I would rehome the one that's a brute when mating, if he continues to be a brute after reintroduction I would make that separation permanent

Sounds like a solid plan, thanks!

Yes I only have the one rooster now. Unfortunately the other one was way more docile but had an issue with his one leg. He came that way.

I'm hoping this roo chills out with more hens. If he doesn't though I may seriously consider giving a new rooster a chance. I didn't realize they didn't have to be so... "Demanding" with the hens. He's developed some worrying behaviors towards people since separation, especially me. So we'll see if he can straighten up and fly right. 🤞

Thanks again!

Culling or dispatching an animal should be done dispassionately and calmly, in cold blood, because it is the right thing to do, not out of hatred, anger or rage. In my opinion anyway.

ETA, once the rooster is dead is the time to throw its carcase out to the wild animals.
Not hating the idea, but where do you throw him? Too close to your flock(s) and would that not lead to predators knowing chickens are in the area?
