So far, our chickens and geese seem to be unaffected, but my daughter found a mockingbird nest crawling with mites. They were running all over her arm, biting and she ran around screaming while I tried to get them off her. We also have barn swallows nesting in the barn where the chickens hang out in the heat of the day and they'll be fledging soon. I'm sure the mites will go off in search of a food source when the chicks leave the nest. What can I do now to help prevent an infestation?
