Dear chicken know-it-alls,

My chicken are just hatchery stock....but they have really good personalities.

all except the wine-dotts. They are evil...probably show quality....must cull.

Excuse me while I go out and heat up the grill and sharpen the ax....

I like to call my birds "non-show birds". To say "hatchery quality" makes it
sound as though a hatchery NEVER produced a Show Quality bird.
It does happen, just not often. Not every non-show bird came from a hatchery.

I definitely appreciate those who do the breeding...if we do not keep the lines distinct,
we will eventually return to a single "mutt" strain of animal.

But, like humans, chickens come in many forms....
and it hurts those of us that love and care for the non-show bird,
when breeders make comments indicating that their birds are superior
because of some Human concept of breed perfection.

The birds don't know or care about the differences, and neither do I.
