Dear gaglers,
What makes a rooster lose its crow? (i know that sounds like a set up to a joke but its not)
Big rooster: deep crow. Couple days later, big rooster: squeaky wheezing crow.
What gives?

Dear Gagalers,

How did you learn it ALL in just 3 years????? I've been raising chickens for 18 years and I can't claim to know it all by a long shot! WOW, you must be a highly trained specialist! Please share how you got to know ALL about chickens in just 3 years!

Thanks!

P.S. I am anxiously awaiting the answer to the question about the rooster losing it's crow. I lost one a few years ago after he started having the same symptoms.

there's lots of reasons. mostly because it's ill, or is being fed the wrong feed. sometimes but rarely roosters are just born and never crow. throat damage in a fight with another rooster too. the other day i was reading this chicken book the other day and it also said that a rooster can strain it's voice, and this usually happens in a crow-off with another rooster. sometimes other roosters will crow more and the other one feels pressured so doesn't crow, which he can lose his ability.
