Hi, there. I don't see a lot of information on BYC about this breed, so I'm wondering if anyone might have some experience with the German Deathlayers?

I had never heard of this breed until recently and I am wondering if they can be kept / handled much like any other chicken along with your flock? I have read that their temperament can be quite shy, and may prefer to roost in trees! 😯 So I'm not sure how one would manage a bird like that under fairly normal chicken keeping circumstances.

Thanks!

I have 3 month old Deathlayers that do fine with my Ayan Cemani's and Easter Eggers. They tend to hang out with the chickens their own age. They free range during the day and roost in my garage at night. They are a bit more skittish than my other chickens but my kids can catch them and hold them... They are very beautiful birds and I would recommend them.
