I’m late replying here, but really feel I must. I have two Deathlayer pullets at POL and two cockerels of the same age. I absolutely had every intention of selling these when I received them as day old chicks, but they are so charming and personable that they will stay. To tell you how much I love them- I am building a flock based on egg color! lol I have absolutely no use for white egg layers at all, but these are such beautiful birds I won’t part with them. Not flighty, not loud at all, not difficult in any way. The pullets actually seek me out to say hello so they rank as my “flock friendliest”. They are in a flock of 28 and have had no special handling. The cockerels are stunningly beautiful, and reserved, respectful young gentlemen. They have an aura of dignity. So far I rate this breed 5 out of 5.
I am not sure which of us has the outliers for the breed.
