So our freezer got unplugged and I gave the chickens some bread dough that was thawed and rising. HA! I should have gotten a clue when one of the hens got a foot caught in the sticky dough. I go out to do chores tonight and there were 6 of my 7 3 week old chicks caught up in the dough! I brought them in and bathed them and blow dried them and now they are under the heat lamp with my bator hatched chicks that are 2 months and GIANT compared to them. All seem to be getting on OK and I did not return the little babies back to the coop with their mama because I thought they might still be a little damp and I was afraid of a chill.
So--do not give thawed and rising dough to hens unless you divide it up into little pieces! Be forwarned! Terri O
